Once the wall is completed, Pink asks (although too late already) if made right decision to isolate itself completely from the rest of the world. In an interview to promote the album in 1979, Roger Waters said narratively speaking, in this song, Pink is within your form wall psychological, but also physically, for it is "locked in a hotel room with a broken window overlooking the motorway". Trapped inside a wall created by pain, repressed feelings and bad experiences of his life, Pink desperately looking for something or someone that help you reconnect with the world that he decided to leave. As the song progresses, their requests for aid are becoming increasingly bleak and desperate.
